Frequently Asked Questions
What does this seasoning taste like?

Pluck tastes like an all-purpose seasoning with a slightly smoky flavor. The organ meat adds a unique, umami flavor. It’s delicious and your taste buds will be awakened by the natural umami.

Where do you source your organ meats?

We source our organ meats from New Zealand pasture-raised cows that are grass-fed, grass-finished and humanely treated. No GMO feed or hormones are used. The high quality of these freeze-dried, powdered organs are the same as you will find in organ meat supplements sourced from New Zealand.

What is umami?

Umami is the 5th unique taste that turns up the volume of all the other flavor receptors. It’s the easiest way to make food taste better. That’s why MSG is a popular ingredient in all those empty-calorie, processed foods. The other four taste receptors in our mouth are: salty, bitter, sour, and sweet.

Do kids eat/like Pluck?

Absolutely. It’s a great way to add nutrients to your kids' diet without them knowing it. You don’t have to deal with picky eaters with Pluck. Plus, every kid we know that has tried Pluck loves it.

How much is 40g?

About ⅓ cup

How long will that last me?

Depends on how many people are in your household and how often you’re using it. If you’re a family of four, use a pinch in every meal, then it will last you about 3 weeks.

What does Pluck go with?

Anything savory. Or another way to put it: anything you’d use salt and pepper on. Despite the organs coming from cows, Pluck tastes delicious on all animals, poultry, and fish. We encourage you to try it on everything and report back to us what you think.

Why is Pluck in a pouch?

The pouch is our way of putting people and the planet first. The pouch is light and requires less fossil fuels and packaging to ship. We include a Pluck sticker with each pouch so you can reuse an empty spice container or jar.

Is Pluck vegan or vegetarian?

No. Pluck uses a mix of spices, herbs, and a blend of freeze-dried, powdered organ meat that comes from cows. If you’re not 100% plant-based, then you’ll love getting all the benefits of organ meat without needing to handle or cook animal organs.

Are the spices and herbs organic?

Yes. All of them except the smoked paprika and the black peppercorn. The organic smoked paprika uses a smoke extract that gave it a synthetic taste. The non-organic smoked paprika is naturally smoked, doesn’t use any fumigants or additives. We deemed the flavor and quality to be higher than the organic. The black peppercorn is not a heavily sprayed crop nor is the peppercorn fumigated. The precautionary measures were as good or better than organic so we did not see the point for the added cost of the organic label. Pink Himalayan Salt is a mineral, not an agricultural product so it cannot be certified organic. Every other spice and herb in Pluck is certified organic.
